Health Equity & DEI Professional | Non-Profit Founder & Executive | Helping Healthcare Organizations Achieve More Equitable Health Outcomes
Visionary and results-driven professional with 15 years of health equity, healthcare, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) expertise. Demonstrated success in delivering insights, strategies, and promotions on health equity and public health outcomes. Skilled trilingual communicator with extensive business development and fundraising expertise. Robust network of CXO and VP level executives at top healthcare organizations. Adept at leading, planning, and executing engagement and outreach actions with communities, allies, and partner organizations. In 2009, I founded CHI, a non-profit research and education institute that aims to reduce health disparities for marginalized communities of color. I lead research and educational initiatives at CHI, including research focused on increasing diversity in clinical trials, building diverse, culturally competent teams, understanding how social determinants of health drive health disparities for BIPOC communities, decreasing medical mistrust, and understanding how chronic conditions disproportionately impact Black and Brown communities. I’ve been the lead organizer for one of the country’s preeminent health equity and diversity symposia in the U.S. In my role as CHI CEO, I set and execute CHI’s strategy, devise marketing tactics, lead fundraising efforts, and manage CHI’s Management team. My leadership stems from a wide array of experiences, including founding a non-profit organization and serving in the U.S. Air Force in support of 2 foreign wars.
My areas of expertise include health equity strategies, DEI, community outreach/engagement, evidence-driven research, strategic planning, community advocacy campaigns, continuous process improvement, regulatory/statutory compliance, documentation & reporting, relationship management, grants & fundraising, marketing, and finance.
I have a remarkable background in delivering valuable insights regarding the resolution of health equity issues and the development of funds for programming. My reputation as a goal-oriented champion with proficiency in leading, planning, and executing engagement/outreach actions with communities, allies, and partner organizations is demonstrated in my previous job roles.
